When the interest-rate talk goes quiet again, what should we be watching?

At the start of the year, expectations for rate cuts were high, but these days everyone seems to be holding their tongues. When the news says "hold," the market barely reacts—yet a single line of wording in a statement sends it swinging.

Personally, I think it's better to look at the exchange rate alongside interest rates rather than rates alone. When the currency spikes, imported prices can reignite inflation, which weakens the case for rate cuts—there's a loop there. If you just follow news headlines, it's easy to miss this link.

Of course, the catch is that no matter how much I talk about this, my account stays exactly the same.

Yeah, I agree—you have to look at it alongside the exchange rate. News always cherry-picks just one side.

Is there a source?

Well, the exchange rate–inflation–interest rate loop is already common knowledge, and these days employment indicators or slowing consumption seem to be having a bigger effect. The exchange rate fluctuated last year too, but rate expectations didn’t move just because of that.

I thought the same, but when I actually look at my account, nothing really happens lol I’m just mentally preparing myself.
