Reading the News Is Giving Me an Existential Crisis
With news like this coming out every single day, it feels like nothing I do matters, and I just end up feeling listless.
Still, I guess I'll have to go to work tomorrow.

Agreed... turning off all news notifications is the best thing I've done this year.
Try switching to checking the news only once a day, at a set time. If you keep looking at it morning and night, your brain stays in a constant state of alert and you can't get anything done. I limited myself to 15 minutes at lunch, and at least I can breathe now. It turns out I wasn't feeling powerless because the world wasn't turning—it was because I was taking in too much information, too often.
I feel the same way. These days I’m trying to get up in the morning without looking at my phone, but that’s not going well either haha.
Well, that's a bit... Not watching the news doesn't make the world any better, and living in ignorance isn't necessarily the answer. I think being apathetic and choosing ignorance are different issues. Wouldn't it be better to just pick one area you're interested in and dig deep into that instead?
You have a point, but blaming only the news is a bit much. A lot of the time, lethargy comes less from the news and more from not sleeping and eating poorly. After I fixed that, I got less swayed even when I watched the news lol
A while back, I spent a few months the same way, and in the end, what kept me going was just the everyday routine—eating, going to work, meeting people. There was no grand conclusion; simply doing what I had to do today was the best. Going to work tomorrow means you're doing just fine.
