Just leaving an honest review. I completed a full-stack course at a government-funded bootcamp in June 2023.
After graduating, I spent the first month polishing my portfolio. There were two team projects—one that only existed within the academy, and one that was actually deployed. I kept bringing up the deployed project during interviews.
I applied to 48 companies in total: passed document screening at 11, coding tests at 4, and made it to final interviews at 2.
What helped the most:
- Including records of real user feedback in my portfolio
- Writing retrospectives consistently, so I could explain my problem-solving process out loud
- Admitting what I didn't know and instead asking the interviewer questions
In the end, I joined a mid-sized SI company as a frontend developer. I started with a low salary, but I strongly believed that as a junior, it's better to get in quickly than to keep building up my specs. Good luck!
