Things That Changed as I Entered My Mid-Thirties

In my twenties, the scariest thing was time spent not doing anything. If I had no plans on the weekend, I'd get anxious, and I'd lie in bed at night tallying up "what did I do today."

Now it's the opposite: if I don't get time alone, I feel strangely drained. I like meeting people, but I need the next morning to be free for my mind to be at ease.

I think it's not about stamina but about recovery speed. In my twenties, one night's sleep reset everything, but now some things take two or three days to bounce back from — and oddly, accepting that puts my mind at ease.

This year I have exactly one goal: to slightly increase the share of things I do "because I want to," whether it's work or a hobby.
