Methods That Really Worked for Improving Sleep Quality
I have severe sleep habits and often wake up at dawn, so I went to a sleep clinic and tried many things. Here are just the ones that worked for me over the past two months.
- Cutting caffeine after 2 PM cut my time to fall asleep in half
- Made a rule that the bed is purely for sleeping (no phone)
- Dimmed the lights and switched to warm colors an hour before bed
- Kept the same sleep and wake times even on weekends
Cutting caffeine seemed to make the biggest difference. When I lie down at 10:30, my eyes just close naturally. Before, I used to toss and turn until 2 AM. If you're struggling with insomnia, don't reach for sleeping pills first—try cutting out caffeine.

Agreed, caffeine really is strong.
I didn't see any effect even after quitting caffeine... I guess it varies from person to person.
Not looking at your phone is surprisingly hard lol, but it works.
I tried sleeping pills, but they ended up making me more tired, so I stopped. Now I'm putting all these methods into practice, and it's definitely better. Fixing my wake-up time in particular made the biggest difference for me.
Fixing my sleep schedule is the hardest part. To wake up at 7 even on weekends...
Changing the lighting to a warm color helps more than you'd think, especially in winter.
Well, not sure about that. Cutting caffeine is good, but a lot of people can't fix it with sleep hygiene alone. Getting diagnosed at a sleep clinic should come first.
For me, it was the opposite — when I tried to stay awake no matter what, I ended up falling asleep lol. I guess it was the psychological pressure that was the problem.
Even after doing all this, I still can't help waking up at dawn. Has anyone found another method that actually works for early morning waking?
Oh, I didn't know this. I should try cutting caffeine by 2 PM. Thanks for the good info.
