How I Fixed My Sleep Pattern (3-Week Real-Life Log)

I used to stay up past 2 AM because of late-night snacks and my smartphone, but three weeks ago I managed to fix my sleep pattern, so I'm writing this down as a record.

The method wasn't complicated. First, I stopped watching YouTube two hours before bed. Instead, I turned on night mode on my phone and made reading a book part of my routine. The first week was so boring that I kept wanting to pick up my phone, but after two days, reading actually made me sleepy.

I also changed my eating habits. I only ate something light like milk or a banana before bed, and completely cut out late-night snacking. For the first 4–5 days I couldn't sleep because I was hungry, but after about a week, my body seemed to adapt and it got better.

Now I fall asleep around 12:30 AM and wake up at 7:30 AM on average. Before, even waking up at 8 AM didn't make me feel refreshed, but now I open my eyes at 7 AM even without an alarm. My fatigue has definitely decreased too.

If you're thinking about fixing your sleep pattern but don't know where to start, try starting with "no phone for 2 hours before bed." Even just doing this is half the battle.

Yeah, I also turn off my phone 2 hours before, it really works. I was reading a book and nodded off lol

lol I did the exact same thing 3 weeks ago—fell asleep at 12 and woke up at 6:30. But the real key was working out for 30 minutes during the day. Cutting off the phone is nice, but you have to tire your body out before sleep actually hits you. I started running from week 2, and that’s when I really started sleeping deeply.

Well, I don't think this method works for everyone. I tried cutting out late-night snacks and turning off my phone, but I couldn't sleep and just got hungrier. And people around me who work shifts can't even maintain a fixed sleep pattern in the first place. At least the vibe of "this is all you need" is a bit off.

Oh, I didn't know that. So phone night mode has that effect too.

Reading books keeps me even more awake.... If the novel's interesting, I just keep reading lol. Otherwise, what kind of book should I pick? Give me some recommendations.

Amazing that you quit late-night eating. That's the hardest for me, T_T. But I've heard that milk or bananas actually raise your blood sugar and disrupt sleep—did you have any issues? For me, nuts before bed worked better.

Cutting off your phone is good, but in the end, keeping a fixed wake-up time is what matters most. No matter how late you stay up, waking up at the same time keeps your body clock in check. Too bad that wasn't mentioned in the post. Still, hats off for the effort.
