I've got 40 games piled up in my wishlist, and the moment a sale notification comes in, I want to buy them all. But I don't even play the games I already bought, and yet I keep buying more... this vicious cycle.

Agreed, I've got 60 items in my wishlist too, but I've only actually bought 4 this year lol
So true lol. The moment a notification pops up, I just fill my cart first and never check out.
Make one rule: when a sale starts, only pay for 3 items from your wishlist. Roll the rest over to the next sale. Just following this alone will cut your spending in half.
I used to buy 5–10 games every sale, but at some point my library hit 400 and I actually couldn’t bring myself to play anything. Now I just buy the one game that makes me think, “I’m definitely finishing this one this month,” and that’s it. It’s better for my mental health.

That’s because a wishlist isn’t really a 'things I want to buy' list to begin with—it’s a 'things I should check out someday' list. I keep only the ones I still remember after two weeks and delete the rest. After doing that, my wishlist went from 40 items down to 9.
