Tried the new Steam game, but it's underwhelming

Bought it based on the ratings, but the only good thing is the graphics; gameplay is meh... Story is all over the place too. Should I refund or give it more time?

Yeah, if the gameplay is lackluster, a refund is the answer.

Oh, I was also considering that game, but I should look into it a bit more.

If the story is all over the place, doing more is just a waste lol

Give me a refund, don't waste my time.

I recently bought a game because of its high ratings and ended up regretting it, but since you can get a refund within 2 hours, it's better to play up to that point and refund right away if it's not good. Also, games that only have good graphics often improve later with expansion packs or content updates, so letting it sit for a while and trying it later is another option.

I had a similar experience. The game is rated in the 9s, but it was so boring that I thought something was off. However, the longer I played, the more immersed I got in the story. The catch is that if it's 'all over the place,' it feels like it'll never come together no matter what. My advice is to lower the difficulty and just rush through the main story first. That way, you won't feel like your money was wasted. But if you still really can't stand it, the only option is to get a refund.

Well, isn't it too early to judge it as underwhelming? These days every game has a build-up, so calling the story a mess after just two hours feels a bit hasty. I'd keep playing a bit more so the refund wouldn't feel like a waste, and if it still doesn't click, check some community reviews before deciding—there's no rush.

Honestly, if a game only has flashy graphics but isn't fun, nobody's going to blame you for refunding it. When a game I bought with high expectations turned out to be disappointing, I refunded it right away—I could always buy it again later when it went on sale. The key thing is, if the story is all over the place, even finishing it won't leave you feeling moved, so it's just a waste of time.
