Tried a new RPG and refunded it after 3 hours
The graphics are absolutely insane, but the combat is way too monotonous and the monetization pressure is blatant. The story also feels like something I've seen before.
I wonder if all games are like this these days.

The blatant monetization bait is honestly so real... a package popup right after the tutorial ends is a bit much, no?
These days, a lot of AAA RPGs are built around half-baked combat and make their money through skins or gacha. Combat systems themselves used to be a selling point, but now only "open-world size" and "graphics" get used as marketing lines. As development costs rise, they just layer monetization onto proven combat to reduce risk. In the end, users have no choice but to vote with their wallets. If people didn't buy, things would change—but everyone buys anyway...
