My Thoughts After 20 Hours in a New RPG (No Spoilers)
The first 5 hours were honestly pretty rough. The tutorial drags on and movement feels clunky.
But once you get past the 10-hour mark, the combat system completely changes. Depending on how you combine skills, the feel of it shifts dramatically. In the end, I sat there for over 20 hours.
The downsides are clear too. The optimization still leaves something to be desired, so there are stretches at 30fps, and the quests get a bit repetitive. Even so, I'd say the combat alone makes it worth the price. If you're waiting for a sale, I still don't think you'll regret it.

Agreed, the combat is truly god-tier. You just have to survive the early game.
Got a source? Where exactly is the 30fps section? Is it during a boss fight?
Well, calling a game where "the first 5 hours are meh" worth the price is a bit... These days, games all do combat well, so burning 20 hours just for that feels like a waste.
I felt the same way. The tutorial section is really boring, but from around the 8-hour mark, once the skill tree opens up, it becomes a completely different game. Especially after beating the boss in the second area, the combat feel really comes alive. As for optimization, I lowered just the shadow setting by one level in the graphics options and got pretty stable frame rates. Just a heads-up.
Oh, I didn't know this. I should check for a sale.
Isn't that old news? I heard they tweaked movement speed and optimization in a recent patch. I'm not sure when this was written, but it's probably a bit different now.
I really relate to the repetitive quests... all the side quests are just a 'go collect 5 of those' pattern, so from the mid-game on I only pushed through the main story lol
When's the sale lol
Saying it's worth it for the combat alone is a pretty risky way to put it. Personally, that "combat" depends so heavily on taste that I can't really recommend it. For people who aren't good at action, managing skill combinations itself can be stressful. Good review, though.
I get that there are 30fps sections, but it's a shame they didn't specify which platform. Since this game differs a lot between PC and console, the info feels incomplete. Still, I appreciate that you kept it spoiler-free.
