iPad vs Galaxy Tab: What should I actually buy?
I'm thinking of buying one as a gift for my college-age nephew/niece, but opinions are divided. They say they'll mainly use it for note-taking and online lectures.
Some people say Galaxy Tab is better if you're not in the Apple ecosystem at all, while others say iPad is a no-brainer for note-taking...

This is so true lol. Note-taking ultimately converges on GoodNotes.
Well, if your nephew or niece is using an Android phone, a Galaxy Tab is more than good enough. These days, writing with Samsung Notes feels much better, and you can’t overlook that the S Pen comes included. In fact, with an iPad, you have to buy the Pencil separately, so the price goes up quite a bit.
If it’s for note-taking plus online lectures, just go with an iPad. The note-taking app ecosystem for college students is in a league of its own, so if you want to avoid regrets later, going that route is the safe choice. However, if you’re going to buy the base model instead of the Air, make sure to check Apple Pencil compatibility.
