iPhone 16 Pro vs Galaxy S24 Ultra: Real-World Camera Comparison Review

A comparison based on real photos taken over two months with the iPhone 16 Pro as my main phone and the Galaxy S24 Ultra as my secondary.

Night photos

  • iPhone: Low noise and natural brightness
  • Galaxy: Brightens things a bit more, but sometimes looks artificial

Portrait photos

  • iPhone: Skin tones come out close to real life
  • Galaxy: More flattering retouching, great for posting on social media

Zoom shots

  • The S24 Ultra's 10x zoom is genuinely impressive
  • I think 5x is the practical limit for the iPhone

Video

  • The iPhone's stabilization is by far the best. Even when walking and shooting, there's little shake.

In conclusion, for everyday photos the iPhone wins, while the Galaxy seems better for distant subjects or travel. If I had to pick just one, I'd go with the iPhone 16 Pro. It's also more convenient for video editing.

Oh, didn't know that. Galaxy's better at 10x zoom.

Well, that's a bit... It's true that iPhone video stabilization is good, but I think the Galaxy is better for portraits.

Me too. My main phone is an iPhone, and everyday shots are also taken with the iPhone.

Right? I'm using an iPhone 15 Pro, and I gotta admit the video stabilization is really impressive. Even when I'm walking and filming vlogs, there's no shake. But the zoom is a bit disappointing, though. Still, if I had to pick just one, I'd go with the iPhone too lol.

Looking only at the cameras, both are pretty usable, but when it comes to video editing, the iPhone is more convenient. I used both and recently settled on the iPhone. If you don't like awkward photo corrections, go with the iPhone; if you take a lot of aesthetic shots for social media, the Galaxy is the better choice. But the Galaxy does better on battery and heat, so keep that in mind. Comparing just the cameras, the iPhone has higher overall polish, but when it comes to zoom, the Galaxy clearly wins.

Um, I mainly use the S24 Ultra, and I don't agree that it looks artificial at night. If you turn off night mode, it's pretty natural. The iPhone does have less noise, but the photos tend to be too dark, which I found rather inconvenient. I guess it's just personal preference.

That's right lol, Galaxy is overwhelmingly dominant when it comes to zoom.

Agreed, the iPhone is definitely better at night.

Got a source? If it's a real-world comparison, having some data would be nice too.

Oh, you're just like me. I also use the S24 Ultra, and when I take portraits outdoors at lunchtime, the Galaxy's skin smoothing is way too much and it bothers me. The iPhone is closer to the original, which I like. But for zoom, nothing really beats the Galaxy. I take the Galaxy when I travel.
