I'm Not Sure How to Handle Salary Negotiation
I'm about to change jobs and need to negotiate my salary, but I'm really nervous. I want to get about 20% more than my current salary, but I feel pressured to actually say the number. I've done some market research, but I'm worried that asking too high might not be appropriate for my experience level (3 years). Could anyone good at negotiation give me some tips?

Salary negotiations are nerve-wracking for everyone, especially the first time. I actually asked for a 20% raise and settled at 15%, so starting high really matters. If you start too low, there's no room to negotiate down, so be confident!
Is it 20% compared to your current salary at the company? Or is it based on market standards? If it's the former, it might be a bit high, but if it's the latter, it seems reasonable. It's better to specify a concrete number (e.g., 50 million won) when discussing it.
When I changed jobs, I asked for a 25% raise and it worked out better than I expected. The key is to convincingly communicate your own value. Briefly mentioning project achievements or contributions helps. Good luck!
20% in your third year is pretty standard! I also succeeded in negotiations in a similar situation. My tip is to use 'silence'—after stating your number, waiting for the other party's response can work in your favor. Don't stress too much~
I had a similar concern when I was in my third year. A 20% raise is a perfectly realistic goal. Confidently present your market research results. When stating a number, saying something like 'Considering the market average and my performance, I was thinking around XX' can make it less burdensome.
