After Watching <The Zone of Interest>, I Was Dazed for a While
I think I know what the ending is saying, but I can't quite explain it. The screen is very peaceful, but the sounds constantly coming from the background were so unsettling.
It's a war movie, but the way it doesn't show the war actually hit me even harder. Even while eating ramen after watching it, I kept thinking about it. I'd recommend it, but I don't think I could watch it twice.

This movie really is like that. I watched it too and ended up spacing out for a while afterward.
The sound design is half the movie. The visuals are understated, but the sound keeps drilling into your ears—it's so uncomfortable you can't sit still.
Well, isn't that a bit of a stretch? The fact that I couldn't tell what the ending was trying to say just means the direction was ambiguous—it's not as if the director deliberately shut the audience out. Honestly, I was bored from the middle onward. The understated direction didn't feel intense so much as like nothing was happening.
