What I Think While Watching the News These Days

There are many times when I see the same story and think, “Wow, the headlines are this different across outlets.” In the past, I just looked at one place, but these days I find myself searching and comparing two or three. Doing that, I gradually start to see “what I don’t know.” But trying to verify all of it makes the day fly by, so I’m practicing stopping after keeping just a few sources. How do you all consume news?

That’s why I used to compare just two outlets, one progressive and one conservative, but these days even that feels like too much trouble, so I end up reading only the first paragraph and closing it lol. But I also feel that comparing outlets is itself somewhat of a waste of time, since in many cases both sides are working within the same frame and just changing the headline... These days I’ve switched to reading the original sources (press releases or reports) directly. It takes much less time and, surprisingly, is the most accurate.
