What I Think When I Watch the News These Days
Both sides claim only their own logic is right, but in the end it feels like a fight over who bears the cost.
I think the answer is just to somehow hold out until the next election. Nothing ever changes quickly, anyway.

I really agree with the saying that in the end, it’s a fight over cost. Everyone’s justifications sound plausible, but in the end it all falls apart over who pays more taxes and who takes the loss.
Well, I don't know about that. What difference does it make if we hold out until the election? In the meantime, there will already be people who can't hold out. Isn't saying we should hold out just another way of saying we won't do anything?

A while back, we spent months debating a similar issue at my company, and in the end the conclusion was just "who's doing the overtime." These things that look like battles of logic are all battles of interests.
It's true that nothing is changing quickly, but that's also because no one is pushing for change. If you just wait, it'll harden in place.

I feel the same way. Whenever I look at the news, instead of wondering which side is right, I end up looking at which side comes out cheaper. It feels a bit hollow, but that seems to be reality.
