These days, reading the news is just exhausting...
When I wake up in the morning and look at the news, my mood is down all day. If I don't read it, I feel out of touch with what's happening in the world; if I do, it just piles on stress.
I wonder if cutting back on news consumption is the answer, but then I wonder if that's really the right thing either. How does everyone else handle this?

Agreed—I turned off all my morning news notifications too. The moment I see one, the start of the day feels heavier.
To get straight to the point, don't look at it in the morning. I only put my phone down while I'm brewing coffee, and I check the news after lunch with a timer set for exactly 15 minutes. The first week feels a bit uneasy, but once you get past it, your head actually feels clearer.
Well, it's hard to conclude that's the answer, isn't it? There are many people who live without knowing how the world works and end up even more flustered later.
I went about three years barely following the news, and honestly, there were moments when I struggled to join conversations because I was out of touch with what was going on in the world. So these days I've switched to "just skimming headlines and not reading the articles." That's been pretty decent, too.
