Why is meeting people so hard these days
Unlike a coffee chat, I actually met up with friends for the first time in a long while. Maybe because everyone's been living such busy lives, the excitement of seeing each other was brief—now the conversation topics are marriage, housing, and kids.
I'm still far from all that, and it was a bit strange and unsettling to see all the friends I used to hang out with having become adults. Of course, it wasn't all serious talk—we did laugh over stories about work stress...
Anyway, after meeting up, I feel good, but there's this feeling of being even lonelier. Is this what getting older is, or what?

Yeah, that's how everyone ends up when they get older. You're not the only one.
I felt the same way in my early 30s whenever I heard about friends getting married, but I ended up doing it late too, lol. Don't stress about meeting other people's standards—having just one or two people you can meet occasionally and laugh with is enough. Everyone's timing in life is different.
Well, I don't really get blaming that on age. It's just that the conversation topics with your friends have gotten more mature. Saying 'it's unsettling that we've become adults' seems more like you just don't want to grow up yet, doesn't it? I think the loneliness comes less from a friend problem and more from you not being able to keep up with the topics.
