I’ve been drinking green tea instead of coffee every morning lately, and I definitely feel less irritable
I used to need a glass of iced Americano every morning to feel satisfied, but recently I’ve been having frequent heartburn and anxiety, so I switched to green tea. After about a week, I noticed a clear reduction in how often I feel on edge, and I feel like I’m sleeping better too. I’m not sure if it’s because the caffeine content is about a third of coffee’s, or thanks to the theanine, but my body feels lighter. Still, when I do crave coffee, I compromise with decaf. Anyone else had a similar experience?

Wow, that's exactly the same situation as me! I switched to green tea about a month ago too, and my insomnia has definitely improved. But sometimes when I smell coffee, I can't resist, so I've been replacing it with oat latte instead. It seems gentler on the body.
I totally agree! I used to drink three Americanos a day, but my anxiety got so bad that I switched to green tea. Thanks to the theanine, I can definitely feel the calming effect. I also recommend chamomile tea before bed.
On the other hand, drinking green tea makes my stomach feel more acidic. But since it has less caffeine, I do feel less jittery, so that's true. Decaf coffee is also a good option—by the way, what brand do you drink?
Scientifically speaking, L-theanine in green tea acts on GABA receptors to reduce anxiety. Caffeine is also absorbed slowly, so side effects are minimal. I've been drinking only green tea for three years now, and on days when I feel sensitive, Boseong green tea works best for me.
