Why Aren't the MZ Generation Getting Married These Days? Let's Think About It Together
Looking at my friends (late 20s to early 30s), many of them aren't even considering marriage. When I ask why, the main reasons are 'housing prices, childcare costs, and personal time.' I feel the same way, so I'm spending my money on self-development and travel instead of marriage. However, my parents' generation has a strong belief that 'marriage is something you must do,' which sometimes leads to conflicts. Have you given up on or postponed marriage for any reason? Or are there people who actually want to get married? I'm curious.

I'm actually the type who wants to get married, but I can't because there's no partner lol. It's not easy to find the right person around me, and I don't feel confident about sharing the financial burden together. Still, I'd like to do it later when things are more stable.
Personal time was the biggest reason. I was afraid that getting married would drastically reduce my own time. Right now, I travel and pursue my hobbies, and I'm so happy with this lifestyle that I don't even think about marriage anymore.
Child support is really scary. They say raising one child costs at least 1 million won per month, which means I'd have to completely give up on my own life, right? I think it'd be better to just have a pet instead.
What's the real reason we have to get married? I find myself rebelling more against the pressure to 'get married and live well' like my parents' generation. Instead, I'm dating, and I believe that as long as there's mutual respect, marriage isn't a necessity.
I want to get married, but reality feels so daunting. When I look at my married friends, they seem worn out from parenting and financial stress. Still, I can't let go of the dream of spending a lifetime with someone.
I totally relate. I'm in my early 30s too, and housing prices have gone up so much that marriage feels like a distant dream. My parents say, 'You should do it even if you have to go into debt,' but I'm already struggling to make ends meet—getting married would just feel suffocating.
