Started investing in US ETFs with a small amount after saving for 6 months without touching my salary

I got a job last year, so it's been a little over a year now. I used to just let money pile up in my bank account every month, but thinking about inflation made me realize something, so I started buying US ETFs regularly—even if it's just a small amount.

Right now, I'm putting 300,000 KRW a month into VOO and QQQ, half and half, on a recurring investment plan. Since my principal is small, dividends don't matter much, and I don't use leverage—my goal is just to keep contributing steadily. I'm curious how others who started with a similar amount are structuring their portfolios. TIGER US Nasdaq 100 seems like a safe pick, but the exchange rate is a bit worrying.

Yeah, same here. I've been collecting for 6 months with the same thought lol

If you go half and half with VOO and QQQ, aren't you basically putting everything into US large caps, so isn't the risk a bit high? That's why I put 50 in VOO, 30 in small-cap ETFs instead of the Nasdaq 100, and keep the remaining 20 in cash. As for exchange rates, they tend to average out over the long run anyway, so it's better not to stress about them too much.

Well... if you save 300k won a month for 6 months, that's about 1.8 million won in total, and the returns on that would be negligible anyway. What matters is staying consistent, but it seems like everyone's making it sound easy these days, probably because the U.S. market has been doing well. I think it's better to study economics first and then start.

TIGER US Nasdaq 100 isn't bad either, but if you're worried about exchange rates, compare it with the currency-hedged version. The fees are a bit higher, but it gives you peace of mind lol
