ChatGPT Is Amazing for Teaching Kids

I'm making daily worksheets for my lower-elementary kid myself. I use ChatGPT to generate the problems.

The prompt goes something like this: "Make 10 multiplication problems for 3rd grade, in word problem format, with answers and explanations." It comes out incredibly accurately. Almost no typos.

When my kid gets a problem wrong, I just put it back into the prompt and it makes additional problems of a similar type. It's genuinely great. I'm saving on tutoring costs.

Yeah, it's good. I use it too when making science problems for my middle school daughter. Really saves time.

Well, I'm not so sure about that. For a third-grader, it's more important to explain why things work that way than the problem itself. Isn't ChatGPT still lacking in that regard? But it's fine as a supplementary tool.

Oh, I didn't know this. I bought a workbook, but I should try this later.

I make English vocabulary lists the same way too. But I sometimes typo, so I always double-check each one lol. Still, it's good.

No dependency issues? I'm a bit wary that later the child will just get answers from ChatGPT. In the end, what matters in guiding learning is interest.

Haha, it's good to save money on tutoring, but don't take it on faith without verifying. AI-generated problems can contain errors, so try solving them yourself beforehand.

It's really good. I'm also using it for my first-grade son's Korean study. When you ask it to make sentences, they just keep coming endlessly.

That's right lol I use it too. The explanations are really well done, more so than the question generation. But sometimes it sets questions harder than 3rd-grade level, so I need to add more difficulty adjustment prompts.

From a critical perspective, fostering a child's ability to think for themselves is more important, and simply increasing the volume of problems with AI could weaken that. Still, I'll admit it's definitely convenient.
