Savings account matured with 8 million won—where should I put it?
I’d just been using savings accounts, and when it matured I ended up with about 8 million won. I don’t have an overdraft or any debt, so I’m in a position where I can invest all of it, but looking at rates these days, I can’t get a feel for whether deposits are better or ETFs are better.
How do you all split things up when you come into a lump sum?

Stick it in a parking account for now and think it over for about 3 months. No need to rush.
If it's 800, wouldn't it be better to just split it into deposits? A lot of people are getting burned after jumping into ETFs these days.
I had a similar amount, and I put half into a deposit and half into dollar-cost averaging into the S&P 500. After a year, I felt much more at ease.
Well, that's a bit... Rates aren't what they used to be these days, so it's hard to say deposits are always the answer. Start with your own investment style.
If you don't have an overdraft and no debt, you can just put it all to work. Facts.
If you're asking whether ETFs are better or savings accounts are better, the answer's already clear. Go do some studying before you jump in. Putting a large sum into something you don't understand is the most dangerous thing you can do.
If it were me, I’d park 300 in an emergency fund and put 500 into dividend stocks or a bond-mixed ETF. But this varies from person to person.
Is this advice backed by a source? You shouldn't just go by ETF returns.
Isn't that old news? Some people say the era of deposit-focused investing is over lol. Anyway, I put some money into an IRP for the tax credit.
Oh, I didn’t know that. I also have one maturing soon, so I’ll keep this in mind. Thank you.
