Coding Test Preparation Guide for CS Major New Grads
As a recent hire junior developer, here's a summary of what I did to prepare.
- Algorithm: Solved from Baekjoon up to Gold 5, and mastered Programmers level 3.
- SQL: Solved up to HackerRank Medium, focused on indexes and joins.
- CS: Organized OS and network interview questions in Notion and memorized them thoroughly.
Honestly, I felt that theory was more important than practical work. If you can't pass a coding test, your credentials are useless. Good luck!

Yeah, I agree. The coding test is the hardest. ㅠㅠ
I solved up to Gold 3 but still got eliminated. Problem types are important too, and for SQL, you really need to practice complex queries a lot. Studying indexes as mentioned in the article is a good choice.
But Gold 5 is kind of borderline for most companies' coding test cutoffs, right? And saying you've mastered Lv3 is also a bit vague. Hope we can get some more detailed tips.

Honestly, I agree that theory is more important than practice. But you also need to get a feel for practical work, so doing both is better. I focused more on Programmers than Baekjoon, and for SQL, LeetCode is also fine.
Rote memorization has its limits. Understanding and applying is more important. If a tough question comes up in an interview, you'll be caught out quickly.
