My Thoughts on the News About the Government Introducing AI Basic Income
I saw it this morning — there was an article saying they're considering a phased introduction of basic income to prepare for job losses caused by the spread of AI.
Reactions were split. Some say it "kills the will to work," while others say it's "necessary to guarantee human dignity."
My take: technology is advancing this fast, but welfare discussions always seem to lag behind, so I think just starting the conversation now is a good thing. The real problem is funding. People say we should tax AI companies, but would that actually work? Curious to hear what others think.

Agreed, it's better to at least start the discussion now.
I feel the same way. But securing the funding will be really hard. AI companies are notorious for tax evasion... Still, I think it's better than being late.

What I don't agree with is that introducing basic income would raise prices and create people who won't want to work. And while it's true that AI is reducing jobs, it's hard to see simple basic income as the solution. I'd say retraining or transition support should come first.

Our company also cut its workforce in half after adopting AI, so this really hits home. Without something like basic income, it's going to get really tough. That said, I'm skeptical about tax collection, since companies often shift profits through transfer pricing. Without international cooperation, it seems difficult.
