Coding Education for Elementary School Students: What Do Kids Start With These Days?
My nephew says he wants to learn coding, so I'm trying to figure out what to teach him first. I started with Python, but I've heard that these days kids start with block coding.
Between Entry and Scratch, which would be better? Or can he just go straight to Python? He's in 5th grade.

If they’re in 5th grade, start with Entry. Scratch has an English UI, so it can be a bit of a barrier at first. Entry is in Korean, so your niece/nephew will find it much more comfortable.

You can go straight to Python. These days, even a 5th grader can follow along well enough. In fact, block coding is just fun and doesn’t build a feel for syntax, so they might get bored quickly. Having them draw pictures with the turtle module is fun for them.
Wait, Scratch supports Korean these days too... Are you talking about the old days? I've used both, and if your nephew is in upper elementary rather than lower elementary, there isn't much difference. Just go with whichever one your nephew finds more interesting.
Well, that's a bit... computational thinking comes before a coding "sense," and jumping straight into Python for a 5th grader can easily make them resistant. Isn't it the standard rule to learn logic structures with blocks first and then move on?
