I've been carrying a tumbler for three months to save 120,000 won a month on coffee. I've saved 80,000 won.
Bought a tumbler, bought beans, bought a cleaning brush... lol. This is so pointless.

Hahaha, ah, I can totally relate to this.
If it’s 80,000 won over 3 months, you definitely saved, lol. Once you recover the upfront cost, everything after that is pure profit. The tumbler and brush are one-time purchases, and the beans replace what you’d spend on coffee. If you stick it out for just 12 months, the difference will really show, right? The usual reason this calculation fails is that people divide the machine cost across each month, but if you ignore that and just look after 6 months, it works out.
Got a source? The 120,000 won figure seems a bit exaggerated... but if it's two cups a day at 4,500 won, that does add up to about that much.
I was the same lol. Once I got into home cafes and bought beans, a grinder, and even a machine, I actually ended up spending more... I only came to my senses after buying all of it.
