Review of a 6-Month Coding Bootcamp Experience

I graduated from a 6-month full-stack bootcamp as a non-major.

Pros:

  • Can quickly learn the overall web development in a short period
  • Opportunity for team projects
  • Job placement programs available (but highly competitive)

Cons:

  • The pace is fast, so it's hard to keep up if you lack basics
  • Job is not guaranteed; personal effort is important

Conclusion: The bootcamp is a good starting point, but you need to keep studying afterward. I am currently working at a web agency.

Agreed, I'm also a non-CS major and the bootcamp helped a lot.

Honestly, the job placement wasn't that big of a perk. I'm also from a bootcamp, and when it came to actually getting hired, my personal portfolio mattered more. The pace is fast, sure, but without the basics, you'll get crushed lol. That said, the team project experience was decent.

Well, I've seen a lot of people who couldn't get a job even after a 6-month bootcamp. In the end, it really depends on the individual, but some places have nothing but flashy ads. It's pointless if you don't keep studying after completing the program.
