Shipping a Side Project in 6 Months After Work: A Retrospective

I started last winter, and yesterday I finally got the domain hooked up and finished deploying it. It's just a small web app, but it's my first time taking something all the way to the end on my own, so it feels surprisingly meaningful.

The hardest part wasn't building features—it was not building them. I piled up more than twenty ideas and kept scrapping everything, and only after I cut it down to three features did I actually make progress. For the stack, I went with Next.js + Supabase, and for solo development I don't think there's anything better.

I still only have about ten users a day, but the most rewarding moment was when one of them sent me a bug report email. My next goal is to add payments... though I'll need to think about that a bit more.

Congrats, congrats! I also just keep piling up ideas and never finish, so I’m jealous. But with only ten people a day, I wonder if adding payments is a bit early... Shouldn’t growing traffic be the priority first?
