Using something like Travel Wallet or Hana Travelog gets you a better exchange rate, and it's better than exchanging money at a bank counter. If you're not in a rush, look into those options.

I exchange currency in small amounts whenever I need to. If I do it all at once and can’t time it right, it messes with my head... So splitting it roughly 3:3:4 at least puts my mind a bit more at ease.

I don't really have much use for dollars unless I'm traveling or studying abroad, and even then, if I pay by card, it's charged at the exchange rate on the payment date, so I wonder whether there's any point in worrying about when to exchange. I only carry a little cash for genuine emergencies.
