Our Company Said It’s Adopting AI Tools, So I Tried a Bunch: Here’s My Review
Our team suddenly got a budget under the name of "productivity improvement." No one told us what was actually good, so I just spent a week using them directly in my work.
- Meeting minute summaries: This one is genuinely useful. Put in a one-hour meeting recording and it even pulls out action items. That said, someone still has to check proper nouns.
- Document drafts: It’s surprisingly good at internal policy documents. But for external emails, the tone is too stiff, so it needs some editing.
- Excel formulas: The conclusion is that just searching is faster. If you set complex conditions, it keeps inventing functions that don’t exist.
- Code generation: Our team isn’t in development but on the data analysis side, and about 80% of the pandas code was usable, while 20% was quietly wrong. That’s the scariest part.
One-line summary: It’s good for summarizing, organizing, and drafting, but still risky for work that involves judgment. If you’re going to adopt it, deciding "how far to hand things over" seems more important than the budget.

Summaries and drafts have gotten so much easier. I don’t even touch meeting notes anymore lol
