Using GPT to Write Work Reports at the Office – Any Ethical Issues?
I work in the marketing team, and these days I’ve been using GPT to draft reports. I review and revise almost everything myself, but whenever my boss asks, “Did you actually write this?” I feel a bit guilty. There’s no company policy banning AI use, so I’m not breaking any rules, but should I be upfront about it? How do you all handle this?

I've had similar concerns, but I think using GPT to draft and then editing it yourself is just a productivity tool. It's no different from using Excel functions. However, I've found it's more comfortable to be honest when your boss asks about it.
I think it depends more on company culture than ethical issues. When I first mentioned using GPT to my team leader, they said, 'That means you're working more efficiently,' and actually praised me. Being honest about it might be worth a try.
On the flip side, I used to write everything myself without GPT and ended up stressed because it took too long. These days, I get help from GPT, but I think it's fine as long as I take responsibility for the final output. But feeling a pang when asked, 'Did you really write this?' just means you have a conscience, lol.
How about explicitly marking parts where GPT was used, or adding a small note like 'AI-assisted draft' in the report? Being transparent would ease ethical concerns and prevent potential issues down the line. Even if there's no company policy, it seems wise to establish this practice early on.
I'm also in the marketing team, and isn't it basically an open secret that everyone uses GPT to write reports? lol You don't need to feel guilty about it alone when everyone's doing it. Just make sure to review the content carefully, and I don't think you necessarily have to tell your boss about it. As long as the results are good, that's all that matters.
