Is 30 Too Late to Transition to Development?
Hello. I'm 30 and have absolutely no background in the field. I currently work in logistics, but hearing that AI will replace my job is making me more and more anxious.
People around me say it's hard for developers to get hired, and at my age, I should just look for a different path... I'm curious what actual developers think.
Are there any of you who started late in life? I'd really appreciate some realistic advice.

Yeah, it's more about not giving up than age.
I switched from logistics to development at 32. The first year was really tough, but now I'm in my third year on the job. The important thing is not just "I want to become a developer," but deciding "what field you want to work in." I chose backend and focused only on Java + Spring, and that helped a lot. However, without a portfolio, you'll fail at the resume screening stage, so work on something—side projects or whatever—while preparing. It's never too late.
Well, isn't that old news? The developer market isn't what it used to be. With AI taking over coding, entry-level positions are shrinking, and for non-CS majors, even getting past resume screening is tough. I'd say the current difficulty is more of a problem than age. Maybe learning how to apply AI in logistics would be the safer route.
