Sharing Tips for Studying English with ChatGPT

I recently started practicing English conversation with ChatGPT, and it's surprisingly effective. I turn on the voice input feature and practice as if having a real conversation with the AI. When I ask it to correct my mistakes, it provides very detailed feedback. Especially in role-playing mode, setting up scenarios like 'ordering at a café' helps improve practical skills. How do you all use AI for studying English?

Wow, I'm doing something similar too! Voice input is really great. But when I roleplay, the AI responds too politely, so it sometimes feels a bit different from real conversation. Still, having it correct my wrong expressions on the spot seems like the best feature.

I mainly use ChatGPT for writing practice. When I input sentences I've written in English, it rewrites them into more natural expressions and even explains why the revised version is better, which has been very helpful. It's especially useful when practicing how to write business emails.

Thanks for the great tip! I never even thought of using roleplay mode. Could you share the specific prompts you use to set it up? I've only tried something like 'act as an English teacher,' but it seems like setting up a scenario would be more effective.

On the flip side, I find that AI uses overly perfect English, which creates a gap from real conversation. So sometimes I add conditions like 'speak naturally like a native speaker, in colloquial style.' Then it feels much more helpful for real-life situations.

Oh, I'm also studying English with ChatGPT and I totally relate! I especially find the pronunciation correction feature amazing. It's great how I can realize my mistakes on my own by seeing my pronunciation being recognized when I use voice input. Keep up the good work, everyone!

One tip I can give you is that if you ask ChatGPT, 'Evaluate my English level,' it will give you advice tailored to your level. I'm a beginner, so I set my level first to avoid getting recommendations for expressions that are too difficult. Hope this helps!

I felt that practicing with other AI voice assistants is better than with ChatGPT. ChatGPT is text-based, so the conversation flow can feel a bit rigid at times. Still, its correction features are definitely good, so I only use it for writing. It seems important to use each tool for its own purpose.

Great information! I haven't tried the voice feature yet, but after reading this, I need to give it a shot right away. The cafe ordering role-play especially seems like it would be really helpful for traveling abroad. Could you recommend any other scenario examples?
