Has anyone tried practicing English conversation with ChatGPT? Does it work?

I feel like it's a waste of money to go to an English conversation academy, so I'm thinking of practicing with ChatGPT's voice feature. When I set a topic and do roleplay, the conversation flows pretty naturally. However, it seems a bit lacking in pronunciation correction and grammar feedback. Has anyone actually improved their skills this way? Please share any other tips if you have them.

I use it in a similar way too. I was surprised by how natural ChatGPT's voice feature is. It's definitely lacking in pronunciation correction, but it really helps with practicing sentence construction and speaking. I usually pick a topic, do a roleplay for about 5 minutes, and then review any incorrect expressions afterward. The results are pretty decent for the time invested.

I practiced with GPT but was worried about pronunciation, so I used it alongside a speech recognition app. Using it with something like ELSA Speak also gives you pronunciation feedback. Role-playing itself is a really good method, but it sometimes misses grammar errors. Still, it's much more economical than a language academy, so if you keep at it consistently, your skills will improve.

Oh, I was curious about that too! Can I ask what topics you roleplay? I tried it with travel English, and it was surprisingly fun. But it's a bit disappointing that pronunciation correction isn't available. I heard others use a tip of recording their voice and comparing it directly. Give it a try!
