M2 MacBook Air 15-inch vs M3 MacBook Pro 14-inch
It's time to replace my laptop, and I'm torn. My main use is web development + occasional video editing. The M2 MacBook Air 15-inch seems great for value and portability, while the M3 MacBook Pro 14-inch reportedly offers noticeably better performance. The price difference is about 500,000 KRW. As a developer, would the M3 Pro really make a noticeable difference?

If you only do web development, the M2 Air is more than enough. Even more so if you only edit videos occasionally. With a difference of 500,000 won, I think it's better to use that to upgrade peripherals or other accessories.
I had a similar dilemma, but I ended up buying the M3 Pro. The build and compile speeds are noticeably faster, and I was worried about heat when editing videos without a fan. In the long run, I think the Pro is the better choice.
If you're a developer, I recommend the M3 Pro. The Air might throttle when running Docker or multiple tools. Spending an extra 500,000 won will give you a much smoother experience for years to come.
I'm using the M2 Air 15-inch, and it handles light video editing fine without the fan. However, if you do long encoding sessions, it does get hot and performance drops. If your work is mostly light tasks, you'll be satisfied with the Air.

The portability of the Air is truly insane. Even though it's 15 inches, it's incredibly light, making it easy to carry around at cafes. The Pro has great performance, but the weight can be a bit of a burden.
I just bought the M2 Air for its value, and I have no regrets. For web development, even the M1 is more than enough these days. Saving 500,000 won to buy an extra monitor would be more practical.
