Birth and Debut
Barbara Palvin was born on October 8, 1993 in Budapest, Hungary, and grew up there. She has an older sister, Anita. Around 2006, at age 13, while walking down the street with her mother, she received an offer from a model scout and began modeling. She first became known through a pictorial for the Hungarian magazine Spur, and afterward went to Japan and other places to work in the Asian market, building her career through magazine and advertising shoots. Based on her local activities, she entered the European fashion scene, and in the early 2010s she solidified her position as a high-fashion model by walking collections for prominent brands such as Prada, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu, Vivienne Westwood, and Emanuel Ungaro.
Fashion Modeling Career
The biggest turning point was 2012. That year she was selected as a global ambassador for L'Oréal Paris and became the face of a global beauty brand, and in the same year she debuted on the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show runway in her late teens, greatly raising her public recognition. She later appeared in the 2018 show as well, establishing herself as one of the representative Victoria's Secret models.
In 2016, she first appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and was selected as "Rookie of the Year," and afterward appeared in its pages over several years. In 2019, she was selected as an ambassador for Armani Beauty and worked as the face of fragrance and makeup campaigns. In addition, she has graced the covers of major fashion magazines such as Vogue (Russia, Turkey, Korea, Japan, etc.), Harper's Bazaar, Elle, Glamour, and Marie Claire, and her name has also been listed on the major models list of the model ranking site models.com. On social media as well, she is classified as an influencer-type model with followers in the tens of millions.
Acting and Broadcasting Activities

Recent Trends
Even after her marriage in 2023, Palvin has continued fashion and beauty campaigns and pictorial work. As the fashion industry in the mid-2020s has reorganized around a trend emphasizing sustainability, wellness, and self-care, demand for her—whose strengths are a healthy image and friendly social media communication—is rather increasing. In 2024, as the Victoria's Secret Show revived after several years and the brand entered a new turning point, Palvin, who appeared on the 2012 and 2018 stages, continues to be mentioned as one of the brand's representative faces. During the same period, she worked simultaneously on Sports Illustrated, beauty brand pictorials, and European fashion magazine cover work, and she is also keeping open the possibility of acting activities. As of 2025, she continues active work as a model and influencer, and is evaluated as a symbolic figure of the generation of Hungarian-born models.
