Birth and Youth Career
Kane was born on 28 July 1993 in Walthamstow, North London, and grew up in Tottenham Hotspur's youth academy. He signed a professional contract in 2011 and made his first-team debut, but in the early days he gained experience on loan at Leyton Orient, Millwall, Norwich City, Leicester City, and other clubs. At the time, he was not recognized for outstanding talent, but his consistent scoring ability during his loan spells became the foundation for his growth.
Tottenham Hotspur Era (2013–2023)
From the 2013–14 season onward, Kane established himself in Tottenham's first team, and in the 2014–15 season he scored 21 Premier League goals, emerging as a starting striker. In the 2015–16 season he scored 25 goals, and in the 2016–17 season 29 goals, winning the league top scorer (Golden Boot) in two consecutive seasons, and in the 2020–21 season he recorded 23 goals and many assists, claiming his third career Golden Boot. In the 2018–19 season, he led the team to the UEFA Champions League final, and in the 2022–23 season, he reached 213 career Premier League goals, ranking second on the league's all-time scoring list after Alan Shearer. His career record at Tottenham is regarded as among the best in the club's history.
Transfer to Bayern Munich (2023–)
In August 2023, Kane transferred to Bayern Munich of the German Bundesliga for a transfer fee of about 100 million euros. In his first season, the 2023–24 season, he scored 36 Bundesliga goals to become top scorer, and in the 2024–25 season he became top scorer again with 26 league goals while contributing to Bayern's Bundesliga title, lifting the first major league championship trophy of his career. This was a significant achievement for him, who had until then lacked team trophies relative to his individual records.
National Team
Kane debuted for the England senior national team in 2015. At the 2018 Russia World Cup, he scored 6 goals, won the Golden Boot, and led England to the semifinals, while at UEFA Euro 2020 and Euro 2024 he experienced consecutive runner-up finishes. He has captained the national team since 2021, and in March 2023, by scoring against Italy, he surpassed Wayne Rooney to become England's all-time leading scorer. Since then, he has continued to steadily increase his national team scoring record, recording more than 70 goals.
Playing Style and Evaluation
Kane is regarded as a forward with excellent game-management ability, beyond being a simple goalscorer. He possesses powerful long-range shooting, accurate penalty kicks, and outstanding positioning ability, and also has playmaking ability to drop from the front line and supply decisive passes to teammates. Because of these characteristics, he is considered one of the most complete strikers in modern football.
Recent Developments (2024–2025)
In the 2024–25 season, Kane reached the peak of his career by simultaneously achieving the Bundesliga top scorer title and the league championship with Bayern Munich. Under manager Thomas Tuchel, he played as the center of the team's attack and maintained consistent scoring throughout the season without injury. For the England national team, as captain he is leading the team through the European qualifiers for the 2026 North and Central America World Cup and steadily accumulating goals, surpassing 70 career goals for the national team and continuing to break his own all-time scoring record. In addition, even after entering his 30s, he maintains outstanding finishing ability and game-management ability, and interest in his path toward becoming a manager or coach after retirement is also growing. His contract situation with Bayern and his long-term career plans remain among the major interests in the football world.
