Jangyu Passenger Terminal

Overview

Jangyu Passenger Terminal (장유여객터미널; 長有旅客터미널) is a bus passenger terminal located in Jangyu-dong, Gimhae, Gyeongsangnam-do. It serves as a key hub for regional transportation connecting Busan and the Gyeongnam region, and functions as a major public transportation base for residents of Jangyu New Town in Gimhae. Since opening in the early 2010s, it has operated intercity bus routes connecting the Seoul metropolitan area, Chungcheong region, and Honam region, and it is adjacent to Jangyu Station on the Busan–Gimhae Light Rail Transit, offering high transfer convenience.

Main Information

Location and Accessibility

The terminal is located at 167 Jangyu-ro, Gimhae (Jangyu-dong). It is about a 5-minute walk from Exit 1 of Jangyu Station on the Busan–Gimhae Light Rail Transit, making it easy to connect with the Busan urban rail system. In addition, many city bus routes pass through it toward Gimhae International Airport, Busan's Sasang-gu, and downtown Gimhae, providing excellent accessibility. Around it are apartment complexes and commercial districts of Jangyu New Town, resulting in a large floating population.

Facilities and Scale

It is a one-story above-ground terminal with a waiting room, ticket office, convenience store, cosmetics and souvenir shops, and restaurants. The boarding platforms are divided into several, with intercity buses and city buses operated separately. The parking lot has about 50 spaces, providing convenience for car users. After remodeling in the mid-2010s, the waiting area and information system were improved.

Routes Operated

Major intercity bus routes include Seoul (Gangnam and Dongseoul), Incheon, Daejeon, Daegu, Gwangju, Jeonju, Ulsan, and Pohang. In particular, the Seoul Gangnam route has relatively short headways due to high commuting and school commuting demand from Jangyu residents. Other routes in the Gyeongnam region, such as Changwon, Masan, Jinhae, Geoje, and Tongyeong, are also operated. City bus routes include those toward downtown Gimhae, Busan Sasang, Hadan, and Gimhae Airport.

Usage Information

Operating hours are from 06:00 for the first bus to 22:00 for the last bus, and vary by route. Tickets can be purchased at the on-site ticket office and online (Bustago, Kobus, etc.). During holidays, temporary extra services are provided, and ticket booking competition is fierce. Free Wi-Fi and charging facilities are available in the terminal.

Surrounding Environment

The area around the terminal is the central commercial district of Jangyu New Town, with Lotte Mart, CGV, and various restaurants and cafes clustered together. Nearby cultural facilities such as Jangyu Library and the Gimhae Jangyu Culture Center make it convenient to use waiting time. Using the Busan–Gimhae Light Rail Transit, it takes about 30 minutes to reach downtown Busan.

Recent Trends (2024-2025)

In 2024, terminal passengers increased slightly along with increased service on the Busan–Gimhae Light Rail Transit. Gimhae is pursuing improvements to aging facilities at Jangyu Passenger Terminal and the introduction of a smart terminal system. In 2025, mobile ticket issuance is set to expand and real-time bus arrival guidance services will be strengthened. In addition, in connection with discussions on extending the Seoul metropolitan rail network, a reorganization of the regional transfer system is being discussed. Demand for intercity buses, which had declined after COVID-19, is showing signs of recovery, and the number of users on weekends and during vacation seasons is increasing.
