Overview
League of Legends maintenance is a periodic maintenance work performed by Riot Games for the stability and updates of the game 'League of Legends' servers. It is divided into scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and is notified to game users in advance.

Scheduled Maintenance
League of Legends typically conducts scheduled maintenance on a weekly basis. In the past, maintenance was held on Wednesdays, but recently it has been changed to Tuesdays. Maintenance usually takes about 3 hours, from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m., and varies by regional server. For the Korean server, 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. is common.
Unscheduled Maintenance
In the event of urgent bug fixes or server instability issues, temporary maintenance may be conducted outside of scheduled maintenance. Such unscheduled maintenance may not be announced in advance, and servers may close suddenly. Users should check the situation in real time through the official website or social media.

Maintenance schedules and details can be found in the announcements on the official League of Legends website. Information can also be obtained quickly from Riot Games' official Twitter and game communities such as Inven. PC version maintenance schedules are announced separately from the mobile app 'League of Legends: Wild Rift'.
Precautions Before Maintenance
Before maintenance begins, a warning message is displayed in-game, and ongoing games may be terminated, so caution is required. Also, if maintenance starts during a ranked game, disadvantages may occur, so it is advisable to exit the game before the maintenance time.
Impact of Maintenance
During maintenance, access to the game is impossible, and all functions such as login, game start, and store use are suspended. Maintenance time may be extended, and notices are updated when extended. In some cases, users may receive rewards after maintenance ends (e.g., experience boosts, IP/XP boosts, etc.). In particular, longer maintenance takes place during large-scale updates or season starts, and rewards are sometimes given.

As of 2024, the Korean server typically performs scheduled maintenance every two weeks, held on Tuesday mornings. Maintenance time has been reduced to around 2 hours, down from before. Riot Games provides maintenance schedules in calendar format on its official website.

In 2025, the maintenance process is being improved to strengthen client updates and server stability. In particular, a system that predicts failures and enables early response is being developed by introducing server monitoring using artificial intelligence (AI). Accordingly, the frequency of maintenance is expected to decrease further. Additionally, discussions are underway to integrate PC and mobile maintenance schedules in line with the expansion of cross-play with the mobile version 'League of Legends: Wild Rift'.
