Has anyone compared Claude and GPT code quality?
These days I pretty much leave coding to Claude, but I got curious. Based on the latest models, which do you feel is better compared with GPT?
For me, long refactors were easier with Claude, while algorithm problems felt better with GPT. But I wonder if it’s all just in my head lol

Agreed — I've also found Claude bugs out less on long refactorings.
It's not just my imagination—when I run it with the same prompt, there's a clear difference. Especially on tasks that touch multiple files, they diverge.
Well, that’s a bit... In my experience, it’s far more often an issue with prompts and context management than model differences. If you’re going to compare, you need to standardize the conditions first.
I really agree that GPT is better for algorithms. When you throw Baekjoon-style problems at it, Claude sometimes misreads the problem constraints and gets stuck.
I've been using them in real-world work, and Claude is good at following existing code style, while GPT was cleaner when coming up with a new design from scratch. Ultimately, it seems to be a difference in use cases.
Got a source? lol There are way too many posts comparing things by vibes.
At our team, we set up both and used them, and the conclusion was 'you lose out if you only use one.' We split it up—Claude for refactoring and large-scale changes, GPT for one-off functions and algorithms—and the stress dropped way down. That said, part of this is because our codebase is Python, so if the language changes, it'll probably be different again.
Isn't that old news? How things feel keeps changing from a few months ago to now, so comparison posts like this are meaningless without a timeframe.
