Establishment and Growth
Uway grew amid the digitization of university admissions information along with the spread of the internet in the early 2000s. In the past, each university accepted applications individually, and mail or in-person applications were common, but as online application methods were introduced, a service model emerged that integrated and handled applications for multiple universities. Uway pioneered this trend and expanded its business areas into a platform combining admissions information and application submission.
UwayApply (Application Submission Service)
The core function of UwayApply is handling university applications. After signing up, test-takers can apply to multiple universities according to the admission schedule and handle processes such as paying application fees, uploading admission materials, and confirming applications online. Because major universities process applications through a small number of platforms such as UwayApply and JinhakApply, server traffic management and payment stability during admissions season become important operational tasks. Due to the characteristic that applications surge just before the deadline, the ability to respond to system failures is directly linked to service reliability.
Admissions Information and Content Services
In addition to application submission, Uway accumulates and provides data such as university admission guidelines, screening results, competition rates, grade cutoffs, and supplemental admission rates. It also helps users refer to universities and departments they can apply to by entering their scores through the “mock application” service. It publishes admissions news, columns, and expert analysis content to support test-takers in establishing strategies, and also operates notification services aligned with regular and early admission schedules.
Business Areas
Beyond application submission and information provision, it has diversified its business into admissions information sessions, online counseling, and additional career and advancement-related services. In particular, information channels for parents and teachers function as important contact points in the admissions industry ecosystem.
Latest Trends
Entering 2024–2025, the admissions environment is changing markedly. First, ahead of the reform of the university admissions system for the 2028 school year, the complexity of admissions information has increased as the elective subject, school record, and CSAT systems are adjusted, and accordingly, the accuracy and interpretive capability of platform data have become more important. Second, as strategies for applying to top-tier schools are reorganized due to the expansion of quotas in medicine and pharmacy fields and regional medical talent admissions, demand for mock application and placement reference data has surged. Third, with the emergence of customized advancement counseling and data analysis services using artificial intelligence (AI), the service axis is shifting from simple information provision to personalized recommendations. In addition, improving accessibility centered on mobile apps, simplifying notifications and payments, and strengthening personal information protection are emerging as major tasks, and the operation of application support channels for digitally vulnerable groups is also expanding. Along with this, as competition among application platforms intensifies, service stability and user experience are evaluated as core competitiveness.
