I Just Got a Health Checkup, and the Results Were More Honest Than I Expected

In my mid-30s, I got a proper comprehensive health checkup for the first time. I was a bit shocked when I got the results.

My cholesterol levels were well above the normal range, and my liver levels came out in a somewhat ambiguous zone. The doctor asked, "You don't exercise, do you?" and I couldn't answer lol.

I hadn't had any symptoms at all, so I thought, "I'm probably fine," but seeing it in numbers makes it clearly different. I've scheduled a re-test in three months, so I'm going to try adjusting my diet until then.

Everyone, get checkups early before you get sick. Seriously.

I was exactly the same last year lol. They said my cholesterol was borderline, but six months later it was back to normal. Even small changes to your diet can bring your numbers down more than you'd expect. As for borderline liver levels, they can fluctuate just from a late-night snack or drinking the night before, so don't worry too much. You got this!

Well, just taking that doctor’s word for it and blaming everything on lack of exercise is a bit much... Genetics also plays a pretty big role in cholesterol. Exercise isn’t a cure-all, and in many cases diet control is the key. It’s disappointing to see a consultation that automatically pins it all on not exercising enough.

Just having the follow-up test scheduled in 3 months is already half the battle, I admit.
