I used to play it but quit. I heard a new season started, so I'm thinking about coming back. Are there many players right now? Are newbies welcome too?

You can come back. It's season-based these days, so even newbies can get into it. That said, you need to invest a lot of time to really enjoy it.

I also came back this season, and it's better than I thought. It's fun if you have people to play with, but it can be a bit boring if you're solo. It's also pretty friendly to newbies.
