Revisiting the Reasons Behind Apple Vision Pro's Failure
This article evaluates Apple Vision Pro about a year after its release. The price was obviously an issue, but the bigger problem was that consumers didn't know where or how to use it. It felt like Apple threw an expensive piece of early hardware into a world where the 'spatial computer' category doesn't even exist yet. Even when developers made experimental apps, they never rose beyond AirTag-level usefulness, so a market never formed. Personally, I think Apple will apply the data it gathered from this device to its next budget-friendly model.

Yeah, both the price and the use cases were the problem.
As a developer, I used it for about 3 months... but in the end, I just ended up using it as a monitor substitute. I'd be willing to give it another shot if a budget version comes out.
Well, that's just something Apple hasn't made yet. I don't agree that the market itself doesn't exist. We didn't know what early smartphones would become either.
Do you have a source? Like sales figures or something.
The whole "spatial computer" wording was already too far removed for the general public. Wouldn't it have been better to position it as an extension of the iPad?
AirTag-level is exactly the right expression lol
More than analyzing why it failed, what matters now is how Apple sets its direction. If they bundle a solid killer app with a low-cost model, I see potential for a turnaround.
