My First Solo Overseas Trip in My Mid-30s: A Review

I quit my job and traveled alone for 3 weeks. To get straight to the point, it was one of the best decisions of my life.

1. Keep preparation to a minimum

  • I only booked accommodation and transportation for the first day, and figured out the rest on the ground. Having everything planned out in advance actually stressed me out more.

2. What I liked about traveling alone

  • I could spend all day at a museum without worrying about anyone else
  • Locals talked to me first. When you're in a group, they tend not to do that as much.

3. What was hard

  • I felt a bit lonely when I went back to my accommodation in the evening. It was especially bad in the second week.
  • The scariest part was having to deal with being sick all by myself.

4. If I go again

  • I think 2 weeks is about right. With 3 weeks, I ran out of energy in the last week and couldn't enjoy it properly.

It cost about 4 million won, including flights. Next time, I want to try a different country too. If you have any questions, leave them in the comments.

Oh, I’m jealous. I’m going on my first solo trip next month, and this is exactly the post I needed lol. Saved.

Where did you go for 400? If it includes airfare, I'm curious which country it was.

It's a bit disappointing that the conclusion is so vague. Whether 400 for three weeks is cheap or not depends entirely on where you went, and without that information, the conclusion that it was a 'good choice' just comes across as a personal impression.
