EV Subsidies Are Getting Cut Again: Is It Still Worth Buying One?

I saw an article saying subsidies will be reduced again starting next year. Some people say buying now is a loss, while others say it's better to buy now since they're going to keep shrinking anyway.

Charging infrastructure is still iffy for apartments, too. For those who actually drive an EV, what's your real-world experience?

If you live in an apartment, charging is a real wildcard. If there's at least a slow charger right by your home, maybe that's fine, but if not, the stress starts the moment you have to go out to charge every week.

Calling it a 'loss' just because the subsidy is shrinking doesn't quite make sense. The subsidy was always scheduled to decrease every year anyway, and the car price itself goes down every year too. If the logic is that buying now means throwing away a few hundred, then buying three years later would be the best deal—but by that logic, you'd never buy one in your lifetime.

Agreed, I vote for the side that says now is better.

Here's the rundown from someone who's actually been driving one for two years. 1) If your apartment has a slow charger, it's an absolute convenience. 2) If it doesn't, you'll end up relying mainly on fast charging, but in winter charging gets slower and you also have to deal with queues. 3) Running costs are definitely cheaper, and when you think about gas prices, the difference is very noticeable. Bottom line: just asking whether you can charge at home settles half the decision.
