A thought that crossed my mind while coding at dawn

If you ask me, "Are you doing this because it's fun?" I can't answer. Still, seeing myself sitting back down in the morning, it seems that's not the right answer.

I wonder if “I do it because it’s fun” really has to be true. For me, I just kept doing it because I felt more anxious when I didn’t. Not because I liked it, but because I felt like I’d lose something of myself if I let it go. So these days I don’t even ask myself whether it’s fun. Instead, I only look at “how many lines did I write today?”
