Recommendations for People Who Say There’s Nothing to Watch on Netflix These Days
As someone who agonizes over what to watch every weekend, I’m sharing some things I’ve enjoyed recently. My taste leans toward thrillers/mysteries.
- If you like documentaries: binge a few true-crime docs and you’ll lose track of time
- If you want something light: sitcoms around 30 minutes are the safest bet
- For a short movie: 90-minute European thrillers are surprisingly solid
But the real problem is that choosing what to watch takes longer than actually watching it...

True, the time spent choosing is really the longest lol. Ended up playing something I already know again.
If you like thrillers, Wavve or TVING tend to have more tightly made true-crime docs than Netflix. Netflix documentaries can be a bit over-edited, which sometimes makes them uncomfortable from a crime victim's perspective. For sitcoms, 30-minute episodes are fine, but if you find ones in the 20-minute range, they go down even more smoothly. European thrillers often have a big gap between the trailer quality and the actual show, so I'd recommend checking the ratings once before watching.
