Has anyone here tried coding education for their kids?

I’m thinking about teaching my third-grade child coding little by little, but when mom and dad try to do it themselves, it really drains you emotionally in practice lol.

I’m not sure whether it’s better to let them play with something like Scratch, or whether these days it’s better to have them try working with AI—I’ve heard both. Should I send them to an academy, or just approach it as play at home?

I’d appreciate advice from anyone with experience.

For a third grader, Scratch is plenty. We did it together at home because I didn’t want to waste money on an academy, but if a parent sits next to them saying, “Why are you putting it there?” they lose interest fast. What worked best was just picking one game-making goal and following along with YouTube videos together.

Isn't AI a bit much? Having kids who haven't even learned the basics of coding build a chatbot is just following a trend—it doesn't seem like education.
